Herman Boerhaave (1668 ¿ 1738) was a Dutch Botanist, Chemist, Christian humanist and Physician. He has been described as the "greatest clinical teacher of the eighteen century. Thornton p122. First published in 1726. His student, Albrecht von Haller (1708-1777) greatly expanded the work and added a vast number of additional bibliographical listings.
