Contemporary black shagreen with one remaining defective clasp and gilt fore edge. An undated French Huguenot Bible probably printed around 1700. From the Library of Philadelphia Quaker and Merchant Jonathan Jones (1762-1821) with his bookplate on the inside front board. Signed dedicated inside front blank by Mary Jones as a gift to her friend Hannah Morris dated 1828. Mary Jones is probably Jonathan Jones' second wife, Mary McClenaghan. There is an additional signature of Sarah Morris on the inside front blank as well. Front board professionally re-attached. Light browning throughout. Not found in Herbert. An uncommon edition with an interesting early Philadelphia provenance. Very Good. Item #7203
