Contemporary quarter calf with a gilt spine over marbled boards. First printed in Amsterdam 1756 and published by Laurent Angliviel de La Beaumelle (1726-1773). Marquise de Maintenon (1635-1719) was the second wife of King Louis XIV of France. There were some debates as to the authenticity of these letters, Lonchamp p297. Brunet col 1321-1322. Some general wear to the bindings, otherwise internally a fresh clean set. Very Good. Item #7134
