She is an important historical being the first American female printer. She was also active as a bookseller, bookbinder, businesswoman and employer. All during time in early 19th century America when the independence of women were discouraged. Light to moderate foxing throughout. Edges a little rubbed. Early signature of Ephraim Tomlinson of Haddonfield, NJ. An active Quaker and member of the oldest families in the area. Modern bookplate of an Historical Society with deaccessioned stamp on the inside front board. Shaw 20383. Rather uncommon. Worldcat lists only five locations. Good. Item #7042
