A Handwritten Petition at the Orphans Court Buffalo Township, Union County, Pennsylvania September 1821
1821. No Binding. One large folio leaf folded in half and with contemporary handwritten text on two sides. Also includes one separate handwritten quarto size leaf written on two sides. Jacob Dunkle (1766-1817) was a farmer in Buffalo Township. Documented records indicate that he was killed in an accident while returning home from Philadelphia. He left behind a family of seven sons and five daughters. The document pertains to a request for partition and valuation of the land. The second inserted document seems to be a follow up on the valuation and an instruction by the Court. The handwriting is clear and legible. The folio leaf has also been folded a second time which has resulted in a tear along the fold on the blank portion of the leaf. Very Good. Item #6790
