Dissertatio Anatomico-Medica de Motu Bilis Circulari Ejusque Morbis

n.p. Hardcover. 64p, 2 engraved foldout plates, Contemporary vellum over boards with red title label on the spine. The first edition of Mauritius van Reverhorst's (1666-1722) doctoral thesis describing the "circulation motion of the bile - its continual excretion and re-absorption" was issued by Elzevier in 1692. The second edition came out in Leiden 1696 and was printed by Luchtman, who seems to have issued both a dated and an undated edition. While the text blocks and title pages seems to be identical, the letters in the signatures in the dated edition are printed in majuscules while in the undated edition they are printed in minuscules. See Walter Page's William Harvey's Biological Ideas: Selected Aspects and Historical Background p120. Not listed in Waller. Paper a little browned throughout. One plate has a small tear at the fold not affecting the image. A very scarce edition of this significant work in anatomy. Very Good. Item #6742
