Carpenter (1830-1900) was the New York State portrait painter who worked on “Emancipation Proclamation” while living at the White House for six months. A marginal stain to the top edge of a few preliminary leaves. One gathering loose, but not detached. Some light scattered foxing and light rubbing to the head band. Item #2444
