Sigaud de Lafond (1730-1810) began his education by studying for the priesthood, but later he decided to become a physician instead. Sigaud attended a course given by the Abbé Nollet which lead to an interest in experimental science. In 1760 he succeeded the Abbé Nollet in his chair at Louis-le-Grand, where he taught courses in anatomy, physiology, and also those courses in experimental physics. Crack in the upper rear hinge with slight loss of leather. Corners bumped and headband worn. Some light scattered foxing and two old marginal ink spots. Otherwise internally a well preserved copy.
