Carmina graece. Recensione. Gulielmi Baxteri cum eiusdem H. Stephani et T. Fabri notis. cur. Ioh. Frid. Fischerus.
Lipsiae: Libraria Crullia, 1754. Contemporary Vellum. Engraved frontispiece, [16], 232p, [4]. A rather unique copy with the text portion entirely interleafed with some contemporary marginal annotations. Moss observes regarding this 'erudite and excellent edition greatly surpass all those editions which have preceded' it. It was reprinted in 1770 and 1793. Dibdin on p264 comments in a similar fashion. Ebert #567 references only the 1793, but is somewhat more succinct in this description: First 1754, then 1770. The editor, J.F. Fischer [1726-1799], spent thirty-two years of his life time as Head Master at Leipzig. Printed entirely in Greek with Latin commentaries. The paper is a little browned throughout with some occasional spots. From the Library of the noted autograph collector George Benson Weston with bookplate in color. Very Good. Item #1576
