Historiae Philippicae [Libri XLIV]. Ex recensione Joannis Georgii Graevii.
Lugduni Batavorum [Leyden]: Jacobum Hackium, 1683. Engraved title page by G. van Gouwen. [32], 656p, [61]. Moss remarks p132, that the Aldine reading has been restored in this edition. The work includes the additional commentaries by Jacobi Bongarsii, Francisci Modii, Matthiae Bernecceri, Isaaci Vossii, Tanaquilli Fabri, Joannis Vorstii, & Joannis Schefferi. Dibdin p139 argues that Graevius formed the text of Justinus by sober critical rules. Schweiger p491. Contemporary calf with gilt spine in diamond shaped compartments. Hinges a little cracked and headband rubbed. Some general browning to the text throughout. A small Institutional blindstamp on the title page and a deacqusition stamp on the back. The contemporary shelf mark in ink on the inside front board seems to match the script example from the Sunderland Library on p39 in English Collectors of books and Manuscripts by De Ricci.
