"The affair of Dr. Sacheverell occupied the greater part of a session of parliament, caused indescribable enthusiasm accompanied by popular riots, and in the words of a great contemporary historian, for three weeks, 'took up all men's thoughts' so that 'all other business was at a stand'. (Madan, Sacheverell, 3). With impimatur leaf. This folio edition, the first publication of the official account, is said to have been intended for members of Parliament.
