A Handwritten Provision Return of the Prisoners belonging to Light Dragoons dated Elizabeth Town July 25 1777
1777. A handwritten document measuring approximately 7 3/4" x 4 3/4" dated July 25th, 1777 listing a provision return belonging to Captain Craigs troops of light dragoons. On July 20th, 1777, nineteen men and one woman from Captain Craig's troops who were disgruntled because they had not been paid, left for Philadelphia in against orders. They were later brought back and stood trial for desertion. On July 23rd, 1777, Col. Moylan writes to George Washington requesting approval for him to go ahead with the Court Martial of these nineteen prisoners. See https://founders.archives.gov/documents/Washington/03-10-02-0368.
