Revised and corrected by William Mountaine (?-1779).Modern bookplate on the inside front board. Stamped in red "EBENZR HUNTINGTON" on the first text leaf which is more then likely Ebenezer Huntington (1754-1834), an Officer in the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War and later a member of the House of Representatives for the State of Connecticut. The Huntington Genealogy p519 states that at the close of the war in 1783, he retired to private life. In 1792, he was appointed General to the State of Connecticut, a position he maintained under the subsequent six Governors. Huntington was "deemed a gentleman of strict integrity of character" While there is no direct information about Huntington as a book collector, seventy letters of General Huntington were sold at Henkels Auction in Philadelphia, May 10th, 1915. Cat #1133. The first twenty leaves are slightly 'dog-eared' at the upper corners otherwise internally clean. Corners on rear board rubbed. A well-preserved copy with an important American provenance.
