A two page handwritten business letter
One leaf measuring 9" x 7.5" folded and written on two pages. Blenheim, Monday evening. "If Mr Urquert is not arrived it is clearly my opinion that our Store door, ought immediately to be shut up, and not an article sold until Mr. Stoddert sends down to have the Goods inventories. I must therefore request the Store doors to be shut up Tomorrow Morning and there may be nothings sold, before the delivery of the Goods as our Bargain was to deliver on Monday: I therefore consider all the Goods to be Mr. Stodderts and that we cannot be justifiable in disposing of an Article after today. I do not know in what light you may consider the Bargain made with Mr. Stoddert from your conversation today, I conceive you disapprove of it; but I hold it I consider it as a matter of utmost consequence to Mr Butl[er] & Myself, not only from interest, but that we consider our Characters and reputation at stake, and would wish not to forfeit the contract on our parts.
