Enrico Caterino Davila (1576 - 1631) was an Italian historian and diplomat. First printed in 1630, followed by Paris 1644 and frequently reprinted and translated. Lowndes II 601, Ebert I p434. From the Library of David Smyth of Methuen with his bookplate on the verso of the title page. Lord Methuen was a Scottish lawyer and judge. An earlier signature of Sir William Cochran which could be Cochran, 1st Earl of Dundonald (1605-1685), Boards rubbed, and hinges cracked. Corners and headband worn. Occasional marginal smudge marks, otherwise, a well-preserved copy. Modern bookplate on the inside front board. Item #10262
