From the Library of Edward Hubert Litchfield (1845-1930) with bookplates in all three volumes. His library was sold at Park-Bernet in December 1951. Also from the Library of Herschel V. Jones (1861-1928) with bookplate on the inside front board to volume 1.Jones was the publisher of the Minneapolis Journal for twenty year. Jones is mostly remembered as a book collector. See Cannon American Book Collectors p218-219. He collected and dispersed three libraries during his life time and kept the fourth until his death in 1928. A well preserved set with two distinguished provenances. Small vertical scratch mark on the spine to the slipcase of volume II. Item #10248
