The history of the hieroglyphic bibles and the teaching of children with the help of pictured objects, can be traced back to an eminent schoolmaster in London, in the 17th century. Hezekiah Woodward remarked "If we could make our words as legible to Children as Pictures are, their information therefrom would be quickened, and surer".
