Constantin François de Volney (1757 - 1820) was a French philosopher, abolitionist, writer, orientalist, and politician. Volney visited the US in 1795. Volney also visited Thomas Jefferson at Monticello 1796 and Jefferson sponsored him for membership in the American Philosophical Society in 1797. Second edition. First printed in 1803. O.
