He published three pamphlets during the Civil War that covered the rights of habeas corpus under the US Constitution justifying President Lincoln's decision to suspend the writ. The pamphlets were issued in 1861, 1862 and 1865. Spine worn and small stain on the cover. Portions of backstrip missing.
