James Howell (1594-1666) was an Anglo Welsh historian and writer. He traveled extensively and spoke numerous languages. Lowndes II p1128, "These letters which relates to one of the most interesting periods of English history-the reigns of James I and Charles I-discover a variety of literature and abound with much entertaining and useful information". From the Library of Sir Thomas Hesketh Bart with armorial bookplate as well as a later label Easton Neston Library. Aside from a small scrap mark at the lower front board, an attractive copy with a notable provenance in fresh clean condition. Very Good. Item #008053
