Four maps where of two foldout map and 18 full page steel engravings in volume one. In addition to a large number of illustrations in the text. Dr Elisha Kane (1820-1857) was an American explorer who went further north than any previous explorer had done at the time. He had to abandon his ship and marched with his crew for 83 days to Upemavik on west-Greenland. A small marginal stain on a few leaves in volume two otherwise a fresh clean copy with rubbing to the extremities. Very Good. Item #008022
