The third edition of Chesterfield's celebrated letters to his son published the same year as the first. Chesterfield began this correspondence when his illegitimate son Philip was barely five and continued writing him throughout his life.The letters consist of carefully considered instruction in all branches of learning and the social graces, enriched by personal essays on history and the classics. Some rubbing to the extremities and hinges otherwise internally clean. A marginal annotation in pencil on page 105 in volume 1 which seems to be a grammatical correction of a Greek word. Very Good.
