The printer, Carl Cist, (1738-1805) was born in St. Petersburg, Russia. he 'apparently became involved in difficulties which made it necessary for him to leave the country'. See DAB Vol IV. He settled in Philadelphia in 1769 where he was employed as a translator of English into German and in 1775, he entered into partnership with Melchior Steiner and formed Styner & Cist. The partnership was dissolved in 1781 and Carl Cist continued on his own. See Thomas History of Printing in America Vol 1. p269. A good copy of a scarce book. Good. Item #007840
