Item #003793 Institutiones Linguae Graecae. Nicolas Clenard.

Institutiones Linguae Graecae.

Lugduni Batavorum: Joannis Maire, 1642. Hardcover. (4),372p. Contemporary vellum over boards. The third of the revised edition by Gerard Josnnes Vossius (1577-1649). It retained the preface from the second Vossius edition of 1632. A popular school text in its time that ran through numerous editions since it was first published by Nicolas Clenard in Louvain in 1530. It was in many ways a remarkable work at the time because Clenard had attempted to be produce a work as complete as possible and even managed to add a short compendium on syntax without exceeding about 150 pages. Binding a bit soiled, lacking front blank and with inner hinges split though it is holding. Some marginal staining at the upper margin on the last few final leaves. Contemporary underlinings in the text. Regarding Vossius edition, see Rademaker p196. Good. Item #003793

8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall.
