Germantown, PA Land Auction Document dated March 21st, 1763
Germantown, PA: 1763. No Binding. 1763 A unique land auction document written in clear script on half of a folio sized leaf. The document announces the sale of 38 acres of land in Germantown, PA from the estate of the late Christoph Bastian. It was sold to George Righter for 525 pounds which according to the text was paid to John Rex. According to genealogical records, John Rex was born 1731 in Germantown, Philadelphia Co., PA and died January 06 1802. He married Sibyele Bastian on May 07, 1754 in Swede's Church, Philadelphia, daughter of Christopher Bastian. She was born around May 27, 1735 and died April 16, 1812. There are detailed descriptions in Genealogies of Pennsylvania Families, Vol II, page 744 about George Righter's land acquisitions and subsequent sales, but it does not document this particular land purchase. Aside from a few minor spots, a fresh clean document with some minor cuts along the edges not affecting any text. Very Good. Item #003582
