Contemporary calf with a gilt ruled patterned boards and richly gilt spine, speckled foredge and marbled endpapers. Complete with the foldout map in color, one plate and vingettes on the title page and in the index, but also extra illustrated with seven small engravings bound in the text. This is the second revised edition. Printed on quality paper with only a small tear in the fold out map. From the Library of Richard Gregory (1761-1839) with his bookplate on the inside front board and specially bound for him with his name in gilt at the foot of the spine. He has also signed his name at the top of the first page. Also includes the bookplate of Robert William Llewellyn (1848-1910) with his bookplate on the inside front marbled leaf. Front hinge cracked, but holding. The spine edge has at some point been reinforced to the hinge and the headband is a little rubbed. Otherwise internally a fresh clean copy in a well preserved binding nicely printed and extra illustrated. Very Good. Item #003485
