Original invitation to the Privy Council 1827
1827. No Binding. A single octavo sheet with the following printed text and dates filled in by hand: "LET the Messenger acquaint the Lords and others of His Majesty's Most Honourable Privy Council, That a Council is appointed to meet at Carlton House Saturday the 30th Day of this instant June 1827 at two of the Clock in the Afternoon". Some at the time crossed out Carlton House and added by hand St. James's. The name of the British Statesman and at the time Prime Minister George Canning's (1770 ¿ 1827) name is written in the back of the invitation and there is a notation - 'I intend to be a little early' GC. The sheet was at one time folded twice and the watermark on the paper has the year 1821. Slight wear to the corners, a small tear in one corner a very faint stain on the back. A unique and scarce document with a very interesting provenance. Very Good. Item #003360
