A Handwritten Letter Dated 1797 [9 Prairial De L'an 5]
A handwritten letter in French addressed to the marine minister informing him about letters for England included with this letter, and asking him to have them checked and if necessary to forward them to whom they are addressed to. He writes that he got the letters from and English officer taken prisoners with their frigate and kept in Qimper. He asks the minister not to loose them and as since officers are anxious to go home to contact the English Etat major for a swap with French officers. The text is clear, but the paper is a little cropped with a few letters trimmed. The signature is unclear. Very Good. Item #003188
