A Handwritten letter in French Dated September 1795

A handwritten letter in French that reads: "The detachment commander of the 7th artillery regiment asks for the replacement of sabers, lost or broker during the siege on Holland, by the 2nd and 9th companies as proven by the certified letter included here, by the division General, commander at Douay. It is necessary and urgent. In consequence, the Commission asks the Committee of Public Safety to authorize the artillery director in Douay to give to the Commander of the 2nd and 8th companies, 7th artillery regiment posted at Fort de France 41 sabers to be taken from the arsenal in Douay. Signed by the Army Commissioner in charge of Artillery and engineering. Approved by the Committee of Public Safety and signed by Jean-Antoine Debry - the other signatures are not clear. The document is written on thin paper and is a little browned along the edges and chipped, though the text is clear. Good. Item #003185
