Written By the Directorate of Artillery in France Dated October 20th, 1790
1790. A handwritten letter in French by the Marine Department who is about to sign a contract with the blacksmith Vivaux in Lorraine about a large supply of cannon balls. In order to execute this contract, the article 18 stipulates Vivaux must be given surety by the municipality of his place of residence. The letter continues with a notation that the entrepreneur informed the writer that the municipality of Nanci refused to do so. As it is of the utmost importance that the Navy will be assured of the execution of the treaty with the supplier, the writer of the letter continues, he asks for assistance in obtaining the guarantee. The signature is not clear. A fresh clean copy written on a folio leaf and folded. Slight browning to the upper and lower edge. Very Good. Item #003172
