A handwritten letter in French dated February 22nd, 1775
1775. A handwritten letter in French dated February 22nd, 1775 addressed to a Mr. Maurice Tontvolleur at the military school near Les Invalides. The person is writing that some private business forced him to leave in the morning for the countryside and thus had to turn down a dinner. He informs the receiver of the letter that he will return on Sunday and will miss a scheduled feast. He concludes with a comment that he includes a letter from Gauthier [which must have been Colonel Jean-Bernard Gauthier]. He then adds that he does not know what he has written, but assumes that it is business. A fresh clean letter written on a quarto size page and folded. I have not been able to decipher the signature. Very Good. Item #003171
