Leipzig: Weidemann, 1772. 2 volumes. Engraved frontispiece, lvi, [6], 896p, 752p, [170]. Contemporary Swedish quarter calf over speckled boards with a gilt ruled spine and black label. Handwritten 'In memoriam' dated 1809 of Bishop Johan Gustaf Flodin written and signed by Henrik Stamberg who edited the first complete edition of Horatius printed in Sweden. Second edition [first issued in 1752] edited by the German scholar Johan August Ernesti and considered by Moss p645 as an excellent edition formed on a diligent and accurate collation of several MSS, and the earlier editions; it contain the entire notes of Lipsius, Gronovius and some of the editor's own. Some light foxing on the preliminary leaves and rubbing along the boards. Tips on the boards worn. Otherwise fresh clean copy with an unusual dedication. Very Good. Item #003133
