Dutch school prize binding with the original handwritten prize leaf on the front blank and lengthy handwritten inscription on the following blank. Francis Hare's critic of Bentley's Phaedrus was originally printed in London 1726. See Bartholomew & Clark #177. Moss p395 quoted Harwood by stating "I have carefully read over Burmann's edition of Phaedrus and it is very correct, and does great honour to the singular erudition and critical acumen of that great man". Ebert #16597. A fresh clean copy in very good condition. Upper and lower hinges are slightly cracked, but holding firm. Very Good. Item #003109
