Bibliothecae Philosophicae Struvianae

Gottingen: Impensis Vandenhoeck et Cunonis, 1740. Hardcover. Two volumes bound in one. 8vo. [12], 476p, [8], 454p. Contemporary quarter calf over speckled boards and foredge with red title label. A detailed annotated bibliography on the history of philosophy by the noted Professor Burcard Gotthelf Struve (1671-1738). But, as Petzholdt writes, more of a literary history than a real bibliography though especially valuable for the study of the German school of philosophy. Some wear to the spine and hinges, but internally a fresh clean copy printed on quality paper. Includes the initials of Germund Carl Cederhielms whose library was built up by four generations Cederhielms whereof Germund Ludvig (1755-1841) was the last. The library remained packed in boxes for a few decades and was finally sold 1878, 1880 and 1882. Also, from the Swedish Library of Christian Hammer with bookplate Petzholdt p459: Graesse p513.
